We are proud to introduce DUNES Suede Finish from the ILLUSIO faux finish product line. This 100% acrylic latex finish invites you to create a sophisticated rustic look for your interiors. Available in a wide range of colours evoking the richness of real suede, DUNES Suede produces a unique suede-like texture with a flat finish that will envelop your rooms with warmth and mystery.



Hint

DUNES Suede texture and flat finish produces outstanding decorative results and will easily enhance your living room, dining room or office walls. It is however, not recommended for high-traffic areas such as hallways or children's rooms, or for frequently touched objects. One alternative is to consider applying DUNES Suede to the top section of the walls only (i.e.: above a chair rail), to highlight the unique suede finish. In addition, you can protect your Suede faux-finish by applying two coats of ILLUSIO BRÏO varnish to obtain a velvet or gloss finish.



Application method

DUNES Suede paint is easy to apply, however, if you are looking for a simulated suede or rustic finish, you must apply the materials in a random pattern. If you choose to use traditional tools for the first coat, such as a brush or a roller, we a recommend you apply the second coat with random a motion. Application techniques, such as sponging, X-shaped brush strokes or spatula with irregular application methods, are easy to do and perfect for obtaining winning suede finishes.

Application: To avoid visible joints between sections, work in irregular areas, not squared off sections that will show a demarcation line.



  • Combining faux-finishing techniques will create outstanding effects. For example, to enhance or create exceptional effects on decorative objects, combine the iridescent effects of ARTIFICE Pearlescent with Dunes Suede finishes.

  • Be sure to try out your faux-finish technique on a practice board first. This will help you get comfortable with the technique you have chosen and will also help establish the colours and patterns that work best for your desired effect. For best results when working on large surfaces (such as walls), use large practice boards and place in the room you will be working on, to view test piece the correct lighting.

  • For maximum protection and durability, especially on frequently touched objects, apply two coats of ILLUSIO BRÏO varnish available in both Velvet Finish #8565-11 and Gloss Finish #8565-12.

  • Carefully mask the areas that you do not want painted. Use easy-to-remove tacking tape (for fresh paint) to prevent base colour from peeling off and always remove it as soon as your work is finished.
